What's So Curious About George?

On our trip to George's Island today, we learned from a ranger that no one really knows who George was and why the island was named after him. Curious, indeed!

It was a gorgeous day and our outing proved an illustrious example of what Cambridge Adventure Day Camp is all about! It was also an experience that allowed us to explore the concept of community. By going off-site as a group, we were able to come together in new and interesting ways. Campers were given the opportunity to reflect on their responsibility as representatives of their respective communities (CADC, their families, the Cambridge contingency, etc.) and they rose to the occasion beautifully! The staff was incredibly proud of their positive energy, manners, and consideration of others. George's Island has a "carry-on/carry-off" policy regarding trash. Each of our campers was given a 1L bottle of water to get them through the day; they not only brought the empty bottles off the island, but made sure to collect them for recycling! The trip allowed the kids to embody and demonstrate many of our core values, including: caring, respect, participation, trust, community, and following the rules. Way to go!
