Waka Waka

Waka Waka is the dance that pop sensation Shakira performed during the 2010 Men's World Cup, which was hosted for the first time in 2010 by an African nation. Can you guess which one?!! The dance that Dan (our Performing Arts specialist) taught the campers in Divisions One and Two was an adaptation of Waka Waka as performed by The South African Flat Foot Dance Company, which gives traditional African dance moves a modern hip-hop twist. 

In other CADC news, in Cooking campers concocted a very delicious apple cake that they enjoyed for snack this afternoon, and in Studio Art they either finished up their African masks or their African Savannah collages. Our "middlers" in Division Two spent their morning at a VERY busy Museum of Science before heading to the pools for a picnic and swim, and the oldest campers in Division Three participated in a dance workshop brought to us by BU's Reach Program.

On Monday morning we say goodbye to South Africa and hello to Egypt. The Egyptian language died out long ago; today, Egyptians speak mostly Arabic. To greet someone, we'd say "Salam!" If we were actually traveling from Joannesburg to Cairo at a speed of 500 miles an hour, it would take us 8 hours and 5 minutes  to reach our destination. Fortunately, we'll be bringing Egypt to the kids!
